Town Restoration Guide: Renown, Town Rank, and Every Repair Project
How Renown and Town Rank work in Fields of Mistria, the full repair-project quest chain with material costs, what each Town Rank unlocks, and the fastest order to restore Mistria.
Renown and Town Rank Explained
Restoring Mistria runs on Renown, a point total that raises your Renown Level from 0 to 100. You earn Renown three ways: donating items to the Museum, shipping items, and completing quests. Every level drops a reward into the chest next to the Request Board — purses of 100-500t, furniture recipes, clothing, and a Stamina Up every ten levels (levels 10, 20, 30, and so on). Check that chest constantly; unclaimed rewards are easy to forget.
Every ten Renown levels the town's star rank increases, and specific ranks gate major content:
| Rank | Renown Level | Notable Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Stone Star | 10 | The Mines open |
| Copper Star | 20 | Story Quest "Lost and Found" |
| Ruby Star | 30 | Story Quest "Apiaries and Terrariums" |
| Sapphire Star | 50 | Crown Requests on the board |
| Silver Star | 60 | - |
| Emerald Star | 70 | Story Quest "Upgrade the Carpenter's Shop" |
| Gold Star | 80 | Story Quest "Expand the Saturday Market" |
| Diamond Star | 90 | Story Quest "Repair the Bell Tower" |
| Mistril Star | 100 | Max rank |
Later levels demand more points each (Level 1 needs 20 points; Level 100 needs 356), so restoration is a marathon — but the first ten levels arrive quickly if you donate and do requests daily.
Working the Request Board
The Request Board between the General Store and the Mill is your Renown engine. Its rules are generous:
- New villager requests appear regularly, flagged with an exclamation mark.
- Requests never expire — accept everything, even items you cannot get yet, and clear the backlog as your farm grows.
- Turn-ins pay a Tesserae premium over shipping the same item, plus Renown.
Once the town hits Renown Level 50 (Sapphire Star), weekly Crown Requests appear. These are larger, harder commissions worth a lot of Renown — treat them as a weekly ritual alongside your normal board sweep. The most efficient habit in the game is a morning loop: water crops, read the board, then plan the day's gathering around whatever the board wants.
The Repair Quest Chain
The core restoration quests arrive by mail from Adeline and must be finished in order. Each asks you to deposit materials in a Donation Box, then speak to Adeline (or Terithia) to finish. The early chain:
| Quest | Requirements | Reward / Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Repair the Bridge | 60 Wood, 60 Stone | Activates the Saturday Market |
| Restocking Mistria's Food Reserves | Sell 10 crops | Progression |
| The Mill Restoration Project | 150 Wood, 200 Stone, 2 Copper Ingots, 1,000t | Mill crafting: ingredients, better animal feed |
| Beautification Project | None (meet Eiland and Adeline) | Narrows stairs repaired; Summit access; stamina fountain |
| Repair the General Store | 300 Wood, 500 Stone, 5 Iron Ingots, 5 Copper Ingots, 3,000t | Expanded seed shelf, second backpack upgrade |
| Repair the Beach Bridge | 50 Fiber, 300 Wood, 150 Stone, 1,000t | Beach island: fountain, fishing, forage |
| Restocking Mistria's Food Reserves 2 | 12 Chicken Eggs, 10 Cheese | Progression |
| Upgrade Hayden's Barn | 400 Wood, 500 Stone, 8 Iron Ingots, 4,000t | Full animal roster for ranching |
| Upgrade the Inn | 600 Wood, 500 Stone, 25 Glass, 10 Peat, 10 Silver Ingots, 4,000t | Expanded Inn stock; better daily soup |
Two projects stand out as force multipliers: the General Store repair (better seeds including Peas, Carrots, and later-season premium crops) and the Inn upgrade, which improves the free daily soup from 20 to 40 health and stamina. Stockpile Wood and Stone from day one — the chain asks for well over a thousand units of each in total.
Rank-Gated Quests and Unlocks
Separate from the mail-driven repair chain, several projects trigger automatically when your Town Rank crosses a threshold:
- Level 10 — Stone Star: The Mines open (also gated behind the first days of spring). This is the single most important unlock in the game — ore feeds tools, quests, and the blacksmithing money engine.
- Level 20 — Copper Star: Story Quest "Lost and Found."
- Level 30 — Ruby Star: Story Quest "Apiaries and Terrariums," opening bee and critter keeping.
- Level 50 — Sapphire Star: Crown Requests begin appearing weekly.
- Level 55: Story Quest "Stone Refinery."
- Level 65: Story Quest "Upgrade the Saturday Market."
- Level 70 — Emerald Star: Story Quest "Upgrade the Carpenter's Shop."
- Level 80 — Gold Star: Story Quest "Expand the Saturday Market."
- Level 90 — Diamond Star: Story Quest "Repair the Bell Tower."
Because these are rank-gated rather than resource-gated, they reward exactly the same behavior as everything else: donate, ship, and finish requests. There is no separate grind.
The Efficient Restoration Order
If you want the town functional as fast as possible, this order minimizes dead time:
- Week 1: Greet everyone, open the Museum, accept every board request, and repair the bridge (60 Wood/60 Stone) for the Saturday Market.
- Week 2: Push to Renown 10 for the Mines; finish "Restocking Mistria's Food Reserves" with your first harvests; start the Mill project — its 2 Copper Ingots are trivial once you are mining.
- Late Spring / Summer: Beautification (free — never skip a free quest), then save 3,000t and iron for the General Store repair. Plant Peas the day the new shelf opens.
- Summer onward: Beach Bridge, then pace yourself. The barn and Inn upgrades want silver-tier materials and 4,000t each; they are mid-game goals, not sprints.
The one universal rule: hoard Wood and Stone in a chest from day one. Every project in the game asks for them, and having 500 of each banked turns multi-week grinds into same-day turn-ins.
💡 Pro Tip
Renown chest rewards include a Stamina Up every ten levels (10, 20, 30...). Each one permanently raises max stamina by 20 — drink it when your bar is nearly empty to also get the full refill.
